Branch Diary

Here is the branch diary of meetings and socials for the next few months.

Branch meetings start at 20:30 unless indicated otherwise and are open to all branch members.

Committe meetings Branch members are welcome to attend Committee meetings but will be unable to participate unless invited to do so .

  • Stafford Pub Crawl Saturday 25th March 2017 10:30 am
    Using the train from Birmingham New Street to get to Stafford we will then take a circular walk in Stafford visiting 5 GBG listed pubs, plus a few other notable watering holes worth visiting. Following a short walk the social will start as follows:-

    1. The Picture House (JD Wetherspoon) A converted 1914 cinema

    2. The Sun Inn http://www.thesunstafford.co.uk Titanic Brewery owned pub with at least 12 handpumps and 1 Cider This will be the lunchtime food stop see below.

    3. Floodgate Ale House Staffords first ever micropub opened Nov 2015

    4. Shrewsbury Arms Recently re-furbished and now owned by Black Country Ales

    5. Market Vaults http://www.themarketvaults.com Situated in the corner of the Market Square as the name would suggest.

    6. No.7 Market Square Formerly George Bates gun shop converted into a micropub.

    7. Olde Rose & Crown A Joules pub situated next to the Gatehouse Theatre.

    8. Greyhound http://www.greyhoundfreehousestafford.co.uk A two room free house dating from the 1830’s serving up to 8 beers.

    It will be followed by a 15min walk back to the station to catch the train back to Bham.

    Train Times

    Depart:- Birmingham New St 10.31(Platform 6b) Arrive:- Stafford 11.00

    Return:- Stafford 19.25(Platform 4) Arrive:- Birmingham New St 19.59

    Cost’s Looking at the National Rail website the return fare to Stafford from Bham New St is currently priced at £9.30 return. This price is based on buying 2 single tickets cheaper than a return!! Using Cross Country Trains.

    Food Food stop will be at the “Sun Inn” a pub owned by Titanic Brewery. Depending on numbers it might be, better to book tables and pre-order food, to avoid the problems we had on the Bishops Castle trip

  • Beer & Balti Night - Pup and Duckling Friday 28th April 2017 Pup & Duckling

    A few drinks at the Pup and Duckling followed by a visit to a local Balti house.

  • Beeston Pub crawl Wednesday 10th May 2017

    Beeston Pub crawl - 5 pubs with over 45 beers to choose from.

    An easy walk from Beeston Station brings us to the Pottle of Blues, Beestons first micro pub with 5 beers. On then to The Star with 10 beers on handpump. This former Shipstones pub is a fitting start to our lunchtime session with food is available. A short walk will then bring us to The Crown, a Grade 2 listed building with a great historic interior and 14 beers on tap but no food. On next to Beeston's newest micropub, Totally Tapped with 5 beers. Finally we move on to the Victoria Hotel next to the station. A longstanding GBG entry With 16 beers on handpump and food. This large rambling pub is a must for any CAMRA member visiting Beeston.

  • Beer & Balti Night - Moseley Saturday 13th May 2017

    A walk round some of Moseley's pubs and finish off with a Balti.

  • Euston (London) Pub Crawl Saturday 10th June 2017

    A visit to some of the capital's excellent pubs

  • Ludlow Brewery and Pubs Saturday 15th July 2017
    A brewery tour with Ludlow Brewing Company and then to visit some of Ludlow's best pubs.

    The brewery tour will cost £7 per head to include tasters of all 6 of their beers plus a pint of your choice.

    We will then take advantage of their brewery tap, The Railway Shed. From there I expect to visit several pubs from the list below: • Unicorn • Olde Bull • Charlton Arms • Wheatsheaf • Blue Boar • Rose & Crown • Church Inn • Queens • Dog Hangs Well • Artisan Ales • Feathers • Compasses

    We will be travelling by minibus/coach. Costs will be confirmed once we know how many people are going. Please could you let me know soonest if you would like to go Once I know numbers and costs I will be asking for deposits to be paid at one of the branch meetings or by bank transfer.
